Equal Opportunity Employment Statement
Barack Obama Leadership Academy is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment, to ensure that educational and employment decisions are based on individual’s abilities and qualifications. Consistent with these principles and applicable laws, it is therefore the Academy’s policy not to discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, gender, sex, national origin, age, disability, military status, genetic information, or on any other basis prohibited by law. Additionally, the Academy does not discriminate against an employee or applicant who acts to oppose discrimination or participates in the investigation of a complaint related to a discriminatory employment practice.
Employment decisions will be made on the basis of each applicant’s job qualifications, experience, and abilities. Employees with questions or concerns relating discrimination for any of the reasons listed above should contact HR@obamaacademy.org.
Mentoring Program
Barack Obama Leadership Academy is proud to offer a mentoring program to support new teachers professionally in their efforts to become high performing educators. Research indicates that student achievement depends, in part, on constructing a school culture that fosters growth for students and staff. We believe that mentors and new teachers will learn and grow in this process. The term new teacher refers to any teacher who is new to the Academy. As required by Public Act 335, for the first three years of employment, each beginning teacher must be assigned a mentor for the purpose of induction into the profession. We recognize that new teachers will need different levels of support, according to their experience and certification status and will pair them up with a master teacher to meet their needs.
Outstanding Employee of the Month
The Academy fosters a culture of appreciation and recognition. We are grateful for our employees and believe their individual gifts are important to the success of our academic program. The purpose of recognition is to show appreciation for the efforts of our employees as they help our Academy achieve its goals and deliver excellence to our customers, families and students.
